It’s easy to expect and demand results from our hard work. It’s more difficult to recognize that putting attention and energy into a new skill will take a lot of time. Time we don’t have. Time we choose to use chasing low hanging fruit – the things that are easy and obvious and are measurable.
Short-term results are important. Yet, in the quest for immediate outcomes, we overlook recurring results when they take a long time to implement. In organizational culture and change, existing problems that aren’t addressed will fester and cause more issues that diminish long-term results.
Remember Albert Einstein’s quip: Problems cannot be solved with the same mind set that created them.
When we exclude different viewpoints, we lack perspective.
Problem-solving and decision-making are rooted in perspective. The more perspectives we can think of and seek out, the more we can grasp the entirety of a situation.
